Frequently asked questions
What is included in the $4,500 tuition?
The $4,500 tuition covers the full time AIA program: Math, Language Arts, Integrated History and Science, one exploratory elective course area, curriculum access, teacher support, grading, school managed technology, parent tools, and required books, supplies, equipment, and class materials. Most students are issued a managed laptop, tablet, or equivalent device matched to the student plan. If AIA requires it for the program, it is included. There are no add on fees.
How does a normal week work?
Students move through self paced work during the week while AIA tracks progress and keeps parents informed. Each course includes a weekly live class for connection, discussion, exploration, and shared momentum beyond the self paced work. Most families should expect about four live class hours per week plus self paced work. Many students land around two to four hours of AIA work per school day once the routine is established, depending on the student plan.
How flexible is the program?
AIA is guided, but intentionally flexible. Depending on student progress, family needs, and section availability, the plan may flex through pacing, schedule shifts, project adjustments, elective changes, or different weekly rhythms. The goal is to keep AIA work steady and visible while helping the week fit together across classes, activities, supports, and family priorities.
Is AIA meant to cover everything?
No. AIA gives families a supported full time baseline without crowding out the rest of the education they want to build. AIA provides teacher support, grading, visibility, materials, and flexible pacing, while families remain responsible for subjects, services, activities, and specialized paths outside AIA.
Who can apply right now?
Current full time program openings are focused on grades 3 through 8. AIA is intentionally small, with limited seats so the school can stay attentive. Placement depends on application, fit, available sections, schedule needs, and current capacity. We are happy to talk through sibling placements, custom schedules, and students outside the main grade range when space and the student plan make it workable.
Can students join after the school year starts?
Yes. AIA accepts students throughout the year when there is space and the placement fits. For mid year starts, we help the family work through timing, live sections, setup, current goals, and a weekly rhythm that fits the larger education plan.

Grades and Skill Levels Served
AIA provides curriculum and academic services across K-12 skill levels as appropriate for each accepted student's readiness, placement, available sections, and student plan. Students participate in curriculum and coursework aligned to their current academic readiness, demonstrated skill level, and student plan rather than age alone.
Students may participate in elementary, middle school, or high school level curriculum components depending on readiness, placement, and the student plan. Students are placed through mixed-age, teacher-guided placement according to ability level, readiness, family goals, available sections, and program fit.
A student's specific curriculum level is confirmed during placement and reflected in the student plan. Live sections, schedule options, and lower-age placements may vary by readiness, capacity, available staffing, and program fit.
Educational Model
AIA is a full time, tuition-bearing private school program. Instruction is required and provided across at least three instructional days each week.
AIA is designed to serve as the student's primary school program and provides the majority of the student's academic instruction through teacher-directed self paced coursework, adaptive learning systems, regular live interactive components, progress monitoring, and parent communication. AIA instructors and staff direct and monitor the academic program; instruction is not required from the student's parent or guardian.
Subjects and Curriculum Areas
Full time students participate in:
- Math
- Language Arts
- Integrated History and Science
- One exploratory elective course area
Math, Language Arts, and Integrated History and Science continue across the full school year. The exploratory elective course area is made up of shorter unit study or project based classes that change during the school year.
AIA maintains at least two exploratory elective options for selection. Exploratory offerings, unit topics, and project classes may vary by student plan, readiness, available sections, and program capacity. Each AIA course includes self paced work and a regular live interactive component.
Curriculum is teacher directed and may include licensed online curriculum resources, adaptive software systems, assigned readings, written work, projects, teacher-created materials, live class activities, and other resources selected by AIA for the student plan in conjunction with family goals.
Coursework is generally aligned to the student's current grade or skill range and is adjusted by teacher review, student progress, and family goals. The program supports steady academic development and flexible pacing rather than a single fixed grade track for every student.

Tuition and Required Costs
| Item | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Annual tuition | $4,500 | Single comprehensive tuition for the full time program. |
| Required application, registration, placement, technology, or materials fees | $0 | AIA does not charge separate required fees for the full time program. |
| Required courses, curriculum, learning tools, and materials | Included | Includes AIA required courses, AIA LMS access, assigned learning tools, required materials, and school designated resources for the student plan. |
| Student and parent account tools | Included | Includes student accounts, email or web services, parent tools, and school web services when assigned. |
| School issued technology | Included | AIA generally assigns a managed laptop, tablet, or equivalent device matched to the student plan, unless another arrangement is made. |
AIA charges a single comprehensive tuition rate for the full time private school program. AIA does not charge required add on fees for the full time program.
AIA full time tuition includes the required core courses, the student's selected exploratory elective course area, and any clubs, school activities, or designated courses that AIA includes as part of the full time program. AIA may also offer separate standalone courses, mentorships, camps, or services outside the full time program. These separate offerings are not required for full time enrollment, are not part of included full time tuition, and may be charged separately when selected by the family.
Personal Project Software Design Mentorship is a separate standalone offering unless AIA expressly includes it in a student's full time course plan.
Refund Summary
Refund amounts depend on the official withdrawal date and, when school issued devices have been assigned, the return of all school issued devices by the return deadline.
| Withdrawal timing | Refund if all school issued devices are returned by deadline | Refund if any school issued device is not returned by deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Before student specific setup begins | $4,500 | $3,500 |
| Early participation window | $4,000 | $3,000 |
| Midyear refund window, ending January 25, 2027 | $1,500 | $500 |
| After January 25, 2027 | No tuition refund | No tuition refund |
For standard fall enrollment, student specific setup generally begins on August 1, 2026, unless AIA and the family have confirmed an earlier setup date in writing. Student specific setup means AIA has begun procuring, assigning, or licensing student accounts, curriculum access, school managed software, school web services, or school issued devices for the student.
The early participation window ends three weeks after class participation begins, or October 1, 2026, whichever comes first.
The reduced refund amount reflects AIA's device recovery and replacement cost when school issued technology is not returned by the required deadline. School issued devices must still be returned even when no tuition refund is available.
For Utah Fits All scholarship students, any tuition refund owed under this policy will be remitted directly to Odyssey for deposit back into the student's scholarship account. Refunds will not be paid directly to the parent or student.
